Social and Civic Whirl: Dynamic Diva’s

DYNAMIC DIVA’s (Diversified, Intelligent, Vibrant, Accomplished) is a 501 © (3) organization that was founded in 2014 by Danielle White.  Her interest in founding this organization stemmed from her relationship with girlfriends/single parents who shared feelings and worked together to solve common problems. She brought together four strong women, with similar interest and shared her vision, to join her to become the Dynamic DIVAs.  They are Adrian Williams Baker, Terri Smith, Elisa Taylor and Wakeelah Sabreem Baker.    President and Founder of Dynamic DIVA’s states that the “mission is to embrace, engage, educate and empower female teens and women by mentoring those who are underprivileged and underserved.”  The DIVA’s promote their mission by stressing educational literacy, job readiness, career preparation and financial stability.  “They are dedicated to the development of projects/programs for the empowerment and benefits for young ladies and women building self-esteem and self-confidence by helping them to recognize their strength and inner and outer beauty by providing resources that can change their approach and outlook on life.

In their efforts to give back to the community, these ladies have volunteered with the staff of Youth and Enrichment and Respite Child Care Services of South Hampton Roads YWCA in hosting and empowerment session for the women in the YWCA-SHR Women in Crisis and Transitional Housing Program. They partner with non profits and charitable organizations to address issues that affect teenage girls and women. These women have sponsored a Diva Tea Party and traveled to Staten Island, New York for the 2nd Annual Day of Choice Celebration and BBQ hosted by Choices for Hope, Inc.  During this trip, they passed out approximately 100 bags/Totes of Love, filled with personal hygiene items, to girls 10 years of age and up. “Little DIVAs” daughters of the Dynamic DIVAs assist their mothers in these endeavors.

Recently, the Dynamic DIVA’s hosted “Motivation through Movement Empowerment Conference for Girls and Women” at the Hilton Garden Inn located on Crossway Blvd. in Chesapeake.  The program began with a Welcome and Prayer by Founder and President Danielle White followed by the Introduction of the DIVAs.  At three intervals, raffles, with gifts donated by several local businesses, were held. Shaughanasse Williams, a Certified Nurse Midwife, discussed health and wellness issues that young women face.  Career/job training information was provided by Karen Bailey from Resource King International, LLC.  Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Parents’ Against Bullying (PAB), Shant’a Miller Synaker, gave an account of a Mother’s Motivation – Personal Safety.  Ashley Smith, who received her undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University and a Master’s degree from Regent University, a WVEC- TV Traffic and News Now at Daybreak Reporter, former Miss United States 2011 who held other pageant titles including 2006 Miss Oscar Smith was one of the Keynote speakers for the Empowerment Conference.  The other Keynote Speaker for this great

Conference was Iisha Scott, a Norfolk State University graduate, a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Geosciences and a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology, a WVEC-TV Meteorologist News Reporter, a member of the American Meteorological Society and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Acknowledgements and Remarks which included Welcoming and Pinning the newest members of  Dynamic  DIVAs – Loretta Braddy and Angelia Richardson; Upcoming Events, Membership Drive and Closing Prayer was done by, the Dynamic DIVA President, Danielle White.
