Norfolk Club Dejouirs Hold Founders’ Day 2018

HAMPTON ROADS
The Dejouirs and Diques of the Norfolk Chapter of Club Dejouir, Inc. observed their Founders’ Day on Sunday January 14, 2018. Services were shared with Rev. Robert G. Murray at the Historic First Baptist Church, Bute Street in Norfolk, Va. followed by a delicious repast at the Murray Center. The chapter members participated in a very inspiring Rededication Ceremony led by Loleta Hammond, President .

The Candle Light Rededication Ceremony was inspiring, giving chapter members the opportunity to honor their charter member, Barbara S. Gibbs.

The Norfolk Chapter has a history of 61 years of friendship with the purpose of serving local, state and national communities. To recognize the commitment and support of their deceased Diques , husbands of Dejouirs, a poetic roll-call of names was expressively done by Dique Manuel Hammond.

Treasured Memories: John Banks; Joseph Beckett; William “Billy” Gibbs: Elmer Harris; Jesse Jackson; Thomas Jackson; Robert Keyes; John Lacey; Chester Lewis; Johnny Mitchell; William “Dick” Price; Jimmie Whitley.

Brothers That Are Truly Diques

I hold onto our memories, the ones that are so dear.
To try to keep you always close, now you are not here,
You all were called, it was your time but it is so true,
You all have left a legacy, there was no one like you!
You all were very special, and I want to say
I feel the lost in many ways, since you are not here today.
But we will never forget you and I know we have been blessed
To have you all for our Brothers, because you were the best!
We say your names aloud today for all who gathered to hear,
Your Laughs, Your Smiles, Your Whispers and now we shed a tear.
