The leaders of a non-profit organization which supports more minority participation in Virginia’s procurement system want Governor Bob McDonnell  to veto a bill that would dismantle  the Department Of Minority Business Enterprise (DMBE). The bill was passed during the last legislative  session.

WASHINGTON

     The U.S. Department of Agriculture is offering loans of up to $35,000 to disadvantaged minorities who want to own a farm or existing minority farmers.

The new micro-loan program will offer 1.25 or prevailing USDA interest rates. Designed to help beginning and small-and-family-owned farms gain traction, the new loan program will simplify the application process. It aims to help farmers increase equity and eventually graduate to commercial credit.
