Inspirational Message: Jesus Christ’s Divine Nature

After more than two years of public ministry, more challenging was the question Jesus asked next when He stated, “But who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). By faith, let us arrive at the same response Peter gave, “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16). Sooner or later we must answer the same question individually to secure our destiny eternally! Jesus, the Jewish long awaited Messiah, whose teachings opened the kingdom of heaven to the disciples at that time and also to us today.

The foundation of our faith is based on Jesus Christ’s divine nature. His mission or His reason for existence required Him to make known the fact that He was the Messiah! As Jesus revealed His divine nature, many people understood, but probably did not accept His claim because it did not blend with their idea of the Messiah. Their doubt is shown in John 10:24 when they asked: “How long will you keep us in doubt? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” As we continue to read, notice that Jesus made many references to His special relationship with His Father. In revealing His deity, He clearly made it known that God was His Father and also made Himself equal with God (John 5:18). Why is our own faith in Jesus so important? By faith, we must accept Him and the works assigned by the Father. We too must be willing to be messengers of His good news.

Prayer mattered to Jesus as He continued to explain His mission on earth. Prayer was the center of His relationship with God as He taught others in Matthew 6 and Luke 11. Let’s enhance this article with Jesus’ longest prayer in John 17 when He spoke these words while looking up to heaven. He prayed for Himself as He knew His time was short. He had glorified God on earth by completing His mission. At this time, He was asking God to glorify Him! Jesus prayed for His disciples and also for all believers as He continued to expound on the relationship of the Father to Himself. He wanted the world to know that God sent Him to us. The desire is presently required of us to believe this entire prayer as we accept Jesus as the divine Son of God, our father. According to the Gospel of John, there are blessings on those who have not seen and yet have believed. Let us continue to study as we try to understand the divine nature of Jesus as the word of God has been made flesh and has always been with us. Thanks be to God for such a priceless gift!

Jesus was fully God and fully human. Does this amazing truth tell us about the close link between heaven and earth? We are aware that Jesus came to live as a man and voluntarily limited Himself to the Father (Philippians 2:6-8). While describing Himself, He said: “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do” (John 5:19-30), “because I do not seek my own will but the will of the Father who sent me.” All of these first century writings present Jesus through a Jewish audience and He is the culmination of generations as we are still taught of His everlasting existence!
