The Red and White Debutante Cotillion Mentoring Program is an annual signature event. Eleven debutantes were formally presented to society at the 2018 Red and White Cotillion that was sponsored by the Hampton Delta Foundation, Inc. The Cotillion was held at Newport News City Center Marriott. Each debutante raised funds to assist with a major college scholarship. The Cotillion was the culmination of an intensive six-month program during which the debutantes were involved in a variety of workshops, and other activities which stressed character development, scholarship, etiquette, community service, civic awareness, and formal dance choreography.

The highlight of the evening was the Coronation of Avery Elle Brown-Renfro as Queen, as she was named Miss Red and White Cotillion 2017-2018. The other winners were: Deja Marie Hill, First Runner-up; Cayla Cherie Johnson, Second Runner-up; and Raja Richmond-Sargent, Third Runner-up.

The Foundation also presented the following awards to the debutantes: Academic Excellence, Raja Richmond-Sargent; Community Service, Jada Ethilda Lewis; and Perfect Attendance, A’ Maya Nicole Kelly, Jada Ethilda Lewis and Keandra Levette Williams. The debutantes  selected Janaya Giggetts as Miss Congeniality because they felt she exemplified how to get along well with others.

The winner of the Distinguished Gentleman Award was Berkett Dionne Hopson, the escort of Avery Brown-Renfro. He is the  son  of Gregory and  Chautauqua Hopson. Berkett is a junior at Kecoughtan  High School.  He  is  seeking membership in the National Honor Society and the Math Honor Society.
