The Winston-Salem alums began forging ahead with their plans, to give back to the University, for the 2012-2013 meeting year. The goals include supporting the National Alumni Association; making fellow Winston-Salem graduates and those who attended the University aware of the local chapter through community based activities; and attending worship services with fellow alumni members. They also plan to continue providing scholarships to Hampton Roads youth planning to or are attending Winston-Salem State University. Angela Craighead, of Hampton, Virginia, is the recipient of the 2012-2013 scholarship.

The Chesapeake-Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will host a Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, October 13, 2012, 9:30 a.m., at the Chesapeake Marriott Hotel, 725 Woodlake Dr. The theme for this affair “Sisters Moving Forward, Guided by Faith” is in keeping with the determination and faithful vision of the sororities 22 Founders.
Reverend Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd, the 22nd National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is the guest speaker. Soror Boyd is a dynamic, spirit- filled and inspirational speaker who has traveled nationally and abroad. She will definitely keep the vision of the Founders alive as well as motivate all in attendance.
As Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. approaches its 100th Anniversary in 2013, this Prayer Breakfast is a time of celebration and reflection. Since its founding in 1913, the sorority has forged forward to pioneer many social, economic and health causes that plaque our changing society.
