I trust you are listening and paying attention to the news that we hear daily about the presidential election in November.
It is disturbing to hear the negative, misleading, untruthful, and distorted information that is frequently broadcast or published. I believe Republican candidate Mitt Romney contradicts himself over and over, as he attempts to answer questions. Or, he never explains how he will fulfill his campaign pledges to my satisfaction.
“I know how to create jobs,” he says easily. But he does not outline a plan of action. It appears that he is only interested in spending his time and money distorting the proven successes President Obama has already accomplished. He also tries to distort President Obama’s proposals for the future.
Regardless of one’s political persuasions, some statements have been made by a few radio and TV talk show hosts that are unbelievable. It is only because our President is black. Many of his critics do not admit that they are prejudiced or that Mr. Obama is smart. In case they haven’t noticed, the arrogance and racial hatred they display do not deter the President.

The President loves people and continues to strive for the best for all people. The unnecessary division that exists between the political parties exists to a great extent because the Speaker of the House has led the U.S. Congress. Some lawmakers have the same divisive mentality as the Speaker. They dispense their racial bias to the world, only because they wish to derail the progress President Obama has made with health care, economic stimulus, banking, and education reforms.
God is still in control of all things and all people. He will determine the end results.
People have to notice the many storms, fires, floods, hurricanes, and other situations that only God can control. Shouldn’t people be concerned about being a Christian, rather than being a person who lives a life of hatred, malice, and greed? God is speaking to the world in many ways. People need to take heed.
We who are Christians need to make our objections known about many situations. For example, the new voting regulations and outrageous requirements some are trying to impose to deter voting in many states, is only intended to dilute the votes they think President Obama would get.
Maybe it would help Mr. Romney and others to refresh their memory on the preamble to the U. S. Constitution, which reads in part: We the People of the United States of America.”
Notice skin color is not mentioned but respect and dignity are mentioned. Racial prejudice is not mentioned but “domestic tranquility” is included in this great document. Love is not mentioned specifically in the Constitution as it was in one of my recent Sunday school lessons but look closer at this time-honored document’s use of words like “common defense, general welfare, and the blessings of liberty?”
Is God pleased with what is taking place in our nation? According to my Bible God is firm about His likes and dislikes, as well as His preferences for love, kindness, tolerance, peace, fairness and justice. I believe Christians should pray for our nation.
